Hi folks.

Has anyone compared the 44S2 with the 968 and 44Turbo(250bhp) in regards of performance, running costs etc?

Not sure if i want to change my S2 if there isnt that much between them.

Thanks.

Martin

I have never owned an s2 but I have owned a couple of 944 Turbos 250's and a fully loaded 968 coupe. I remember trying to catch a 944 S2 in the 968 and thinking there did not seem a huge difference in performance. The 968 grows on you but despite the quoted 10 BHP power difference between the models there seemed to be far, far more than that. The result is I have another 944 Turbo.

I've never owned a Turbo but I'm sure the additional running costs make it worth it :D

Previous threads on various fora in the past seem to agree.
S2 or 968 if you want to keep it fairly standard as a daily driver. Which you have depends on which you like the look of better assuming can justify the 50-100% price difference between the 2.
If you want the version that performs best (ie will go fastest) and you like the idea of changing a few bits then go for a turbo.
If you have lots of money and patience then go looking for a 968 turbo!

I am attending Gaydon with the Scottish region. We'll be able to fix you up over the weekend if you attend.

Martin, if you're still interested in the magazine artcle comparing S2, 968 and 44 turbo, its in 911 Porsche world March '09 issue, the one with the Autofarm Cayman( :D ) on the cover, starting on page 72 (found it while rummaging in my room earlier). Should be some back isues at their stand at Gaydon.

Matt.
