Hi All,

Just wanted to let you know how impressed I was with the Meguiars Clay Bar Treatment. After the clay bar treatment, I used the Meguiars 3 step polish system. Step 1 - Paint Cleaner, Step 2 - High Gloss Polish and Step 3 - Carnauba Wax.

I was so impressed with the finish, I drove out to Yorkshire Sculpture Park to photograph the finished product. It was a lot of hard work but I've now got arms like Arnie

Yup - I'm a Meguiars man too.

The clay bar I'd never heard of until I visited them last year - I couldn't believe the effect it has. I clay it in Spring now, make sure it's got a couple of good coats of wax, then it's fairly minimal maintenance.

I've always been a AutoGlym person but recently started using Bilt Hamber products.Their Auto Balm gave the 944 a fantastic shine which has stayed, even though it stands outside all winter even under the snow! Auto Bathe is a great car wash as well.
As for clay bars I'll blaspheme here but I've tried it & found it does nothing that AutoGlym paint restorer doesn't do just as well!

Quite impressed as the Jag was AG Super Resin Polish before Xmas & that still beads water well, but doesn't have the depth of gloss that the Auto Balm does.

I tend to use a lot of different products on the car. I use Turtle Wax Zip Wax Shampoo for washing the car. I really rate the Turtle Wax Glass Cleaner. I'm surprised about how much extra crap it gets off the windows even after washing! I then use a lot of Auto Glym products too. I use Clean Wheels on the alloys and Instant Tyre Shine on the tyre walls. Auto Glym Alloy Wheel Seal is also good to spray on the inside of the alloy. It helps to repel dirt and brake dust but is a bit of a hassle to apply. You have to remove the wheels from the car as you don't want to get this stuff on the brakes!

For the interior its all Auto Glym again. Leather Cleaner, Leather Care Protector (which can also be used on interior and exterior plastics and vinyls with fantastic results, and better than silicon dash sprays I've found in my experience) and Interior Shampoo for the carpets.

I've only recently got into the Meguiars stuff, recommended to me by people I work with. The only down side to the 3 step system I used was the length of time involved in applying the product. I suppose its worthwhile though if you're only using it a couple of times a year though.

My wife thinks I'm absolutely obssessed with cleaning the car. I only wash it every 2 weeks or so to keep on top of it all. I find it strangely theraputic (now I do sound sad!) but I do get a good sense of achievement on the results.

I've been intending to try a clay bar for over a year now but then something else more important jumps in the way and I never end up doing it.

Will have to get hold of one before I sell my VW to give it a bit of an edge. Sure it would be good on the 944 judging by the amount of dirt I shifted from the windows but the rest of the paint is in enough of a state for it to not matter.

I use claybar and all the Meguiars polish treatment and I think it is brill,I tend to claybar once a year and do another waxing in between.
Hard work but well worth it.

Course I'll be in it. I've been using the car since I cleaned and polished it on Wednesday. Since then it's been rained on with muck splashed up the sides. Looks as bad now before I cleaned it!
