 Post subject: early-late suspension swap ?

Im in need of complete replacement rear suspension for my early 944, (beam, trailing arms, the lot) can i fit the later model parts (ally arms etc) without modifying anything ?

are the stub axles and brakes interchangeable ?

If by late model you mean post 85 1/2 but pre 87 then I can't see any reason why not, I'd do the whole lot though; beam, trailing arms, hubs, stubs, etc. The post 87 would give you different hubs & wheel offsets & possibly other problems.
Be warned there are other collateral bits you'll end up doing such as beam mounts etc. I'd check & replace the front-back brake pipes & fuellines whilst in there.

You can swap it all over as Jim says. Youll need a 1986 model year car as a donor because they share the same offset. 1987 model year onwards will have the later offset, which you can use, but your cookie cutters will completely fill the rear arches. This wont affect the vehicle unduly, although it may 'push' more through corners. It will look quite smart at the back too. I was tempted to widetrack my car, but Id prefer to retain the OEM speedometer drive in the front hub for the time being.
