I like the look and description of the enclosed 944 S2, not sure I would need to retain the reg number. Thought I would ask for your comments or if anyone knows the car before I make contact
It would be a daily driver.
Thanks, Des

TBH it looks pretty good, not sure about all the updates some of those are personal taste.
It doesn't mention camchain or tensioner which ARE NOT on the Porsche schedule & need looking at urgently if not done.
I'd assume it has had cam & balance belt done recently. The price looks fair if it is as good as it looks.

Looks good to me but as stated previously if the camchain and tensioner has not been done then it will need to be as soon as possible. I paid around £5K just over a year ago for a 1991 944S2 with a very complete service history incl camchain and tensioner done when the exhaust camshaft was changed on the same wheels as this one with 89Kmiles and black leather interior. So if you deduct the proposed Reg plate value £3795 seems reasonable but in this economic climate it probably should be less (unfortunately for seller good news for you) particularly with 128K miles.

Get a list of what work has been done over the past 4-5 years. A stamp means nothing.

Belts, w'pump, clutch, fuel lines the list goes on and could be v.expensive.

Then again it may have all been done.

Thanks for the information and comments in you replies guys. As always lots to check as suggested but this will serve me well in the future on any S2 I look at. Agree the updates are more a personal choice but as you point out condition and recent history are key.

Thanks again, Des

In my opinion - I would first check for rust around the sills and bottoms of front wings.
Get a camera into the inspection holes in the door shuts and check the inner arches. Rust is expensive to fix and once there is hard to get properly fixed.
Get the car up on a ramp and check for any signs of accident damage. Panel gaps is also a good sign of any poorly repaired accident damage.
Fuel and brake lines are also expensive, so check these are in good condition. Does the advert mention clutch? a replacement is over £1000.

Of course, the items the others mention are good bargaining points to bring the price down. In the current credit crisis, i think you could get that car for a very good price.

The car itself looks very nice in the pictures. Guards is not my preferred choice of colour, but it suits this S2 very well. The linen looks clean and the sports seats are a very nice option to have. Cup 1s suit this car very well.
