My 944 S2 1991 has split rear seats. All the 944 S2,s I have seen have one piece rear seats. I have run the factory options codes on the internet but they do not show as an optional extra. Does any one have any info about this split rear setup?

I understood it was an option? But just checked my options list & can't find it. Paul my ARO has split rear seat.

Someone has told me that the next model the 928 that followed the last of the 944 S2,s Has got split rears. So maybe the last few 944 S2,s went over to split rears just at the end of the production run....but I do not know if this is the case.

I can't find any reference in Peter Morgan's or Michael Cotton's books.

My cabby has split seats and that is a 1992.

Mine was registered August 1991 and has split seats, and because it was on eof the last it also has the 968 bridge spoiler.

The 944S2 was followed by he 968 by the way (that's just for 'bigwave').

Probably because it was an SE. However my 1989 2.7 Lux I had from 1998 to 2000 didn't have split seats. I have to say that I prefer the luggage cover arrangement on the Lux to the S2. The split folding rear seats don't allow for the retractable luggage cover.

Paul my ARO has split seats on his late 2.7. I agree about the luggage cover being better.

968 thanks for that.Being a new owner I am not up to speed on all models of Porsche.
And yes mine has a bridge spoiler as the 968. S it must be quite a late car.

HI Jim
yes mine has a crap luggage cover not like the 944 Lux its a nsty thing and not what I would have expected from Porsche. My wife has made a new cover in blacl leather,et that looks 10 times better than the cloth one.
Regards
Don

Just looked out the invoice for mine when it was new. As it was a 'run-out' car to make way for the 968 the previous (and only other) owner got a huge discount, and a choice of colour. He told me that they wouldn't let him have a choice of colour so he walked out, and a few days later they called him with the OK.

£28639.36 including a full tank of petrol and 12 months road tax. He bought it on 30 July 1991, with an 'early August' delivery date.

It came from Dutton-Forshaw in St John's Wood, London.

All this info is of no real use but is nice to have to show the car's history.
