Yes I do, they only made a few and mine is one of 3 in the country that I know about :) This has just had a full respray and now in the process of being rebuilt, should be good when finished!
Also shares a garage with this 944 turbo

Probably not the right place to post this but was the 924 cab a Porsche in house thing? or did they farm it out to someone?

Mine was a Bieber Cabrio Kit from Borken, Germany. It was done by Pilgrim Cars of Plymouth.

What was yours Claire?

Chris

I don't think there was ever an official 924 Cab... they're all after market conversions. Love it, by the way. 8)

Wish I had one.

Porsche never manufactured the 924 Cabrio, they were all aftermarket conversions. Indeed, I believe that even the 944 Cabrio’s had much of the work sub-contracted, but they were official Porsche convertibles, and never considered conversions… I believe there has been much debate over this statement, and it gets into semantics, which I’d rather not kick off again!

I believe there were two kits produced for the 924, both German, both TUV approved – Bieber, and Lainwather & Blazek. The distinguishing feature so far being a “cut down” filler cap – though that may be a “Porkies” Conversions trademark rather than a “feature” of the kit. Our’s is the latter.

It was only looking at this that I notice on the Porsche 944 Cabrios the fuel filler cap is relocated further back.

I have also seen (and some-where have some rather poor photo’s of) an early 944 conversion. Left hand drive, and over time it has been updated with S2 style parts, so it looks little different to a standard 944 Cabrio.

At some point I am hoping to A) continue the articles in Porsche Post on the progress of ours, and B) put together a full article on the 924 Cabrios I have seen, history and so on.

In the mean time, I would be very interested to hear from any-one that has a 924 Cabrio, or information on the companies making the kits or carrying out the conversions, have a chat, and see if their car or information could be included in said article.
