Hi All,
My rear's are down to the limit so I am looking to replace them very soon, can anyone give me details on what's a good tyre and ones to avoid!

At the moment the car has the following
Front Pirelli P Zeros 205/55/ZR 16
Rears Pirelli P Zeros 225/40/ZR 16

I am not looking to change the fronts as they have 3+mm still on them, on the rear I don't mind soft rubber as I only do around 3k a year.

Also looking to go back to the correct size tyres on the rear 225/50ZR 16 due to very light steering.

Different car but my Jag was on P Zero Assymetricos, after lots of umming & arring I've changed the fronts to Falken FK452, everyone is raving about them on various forums & I've run the previous Falken FK502 on the 7 & they were great. Other common choices are Goodyears, Toyo & Bridgestones.

I fitted Toyo T1Rs to my S2 255/40/17 rears and 225/45/17 fronts for £300 for four fitted about 5 months ago and I have been very impressed by them no sign of wear yet with about 2000 miles on them, they grip really well in the dry and are also great in the wet.

I was after safety in the wet, longevity, reasonable cost. After a lot of research, including helpful info on this forum, I opted for Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 205-55-16 front, 225-50 16 rear. All in they cost £345. I'm very happy with them, they do what they're supposed to do, and I always feel safe in the wet.

That is what is on the 944 at the moment. I'm more than happy with them as well.

..... and the tread pattern makes the car look faster if you haven't got the right colour!

Thanks for the info, I had Goodyear F1's on my last family car and found them good, if they work ok on an S2 then I think I will go for them.

£345 is not a bad price for four tyres

I got the fastest colour just need the tyres to match!!!!!

Tyre choice is always a tricky one, but from the various forums I am a member of, the consistently recommended ones are (in no order) Goodyear GSD Eagle Aysymetric (replaces the old GSD-3),Toyo Proxes T1-R, Falken 452, Vredstein Ultrac Sessanta, Uniroyal Rainsport 2.
Currently I have Dunlop Sport Fast Response (highly rated at tyretest.com), but thats because I have skinny teledials :D

Hope this helps
