Good Luck with viewing :thumbleft:

Thanks for the old pic's of the Blue Rocket (what I call her now). Ties the history up nicely back to your ownership. Just want to get her back from Jon's now all sorted. :bounce:

Update - I woke up early this morning and did some monster miles in my trusty Audi TDI to go and see this car.

I have created a slideshow here: http://s123.photobucket.com/albums/o310/rsb377/Porsche%20944%20turbo/?albumview=slideshow

Can anyone tell me how many service pages are in the original porsche service history book? Seems odd hat there is only the one?

Couple of concerns:

* Rust on Drivers side sill.
* Rust seen along seem when looking inside inspection hole in B post door shut area. Drivers side only.
* Bonnet doesnt sit flush with drvers side front wing.
* Some small patches of rust at the bottoms of the wings, front and back.

I know the slideshow is long and some pictures look a bit strange, but could anyone have a look and tell me their thoughts? Car is up for £4495 and has 90k miles on it.

I dont expect the car to be concours but want a good useable car that will not cost me £5k in rot repairs.

<Post copied from the PCGB forum as im trying to get maximum feedback>

is the temp gauge working correctly or did it really go that high ? alsothere does seem to be a lot of general surface rust in a lot of areas, a bit of a project in my opinion

I think you could do alot better for the money, there's far too much rust in expensive to fix places in my opinion (sills ,windscreen). It also appears, its been a long time since this car has seen any work on its suspension and brakes. I agree with the above it should be considered as a project car and as such worth far less than their asking.

 Looks worth less than 1K to me. Very rough. Compared to that mine is mint. Looks like a long time since it's seen a spanner or regular use looking at the discs. You can do much better than that! Keep looking! If your prepared to travel you will get a good one. Eventually.

This one looks at least a bit cared forhttp://www.pistonheads.com/sales/912604.htm But from a club member a better bet!

Cheaper to pay more at the beginning. I had a choice of 2 cars. Went for the cheaper one & it cost me 4K A bit more at the begining would have made more sence.

Looks like a dog (with a broken back leg to me)

Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole for that money

I am no 944 man but the lower body on that needs a shed load of money, roof line at front suggests a poor screen refit

Suspension and brakes don't look as though they have ever been attended to properly

Bonnet fit suggests that work has been done or bodged on both front wings

Have a look at Gary Lanes 944 turbo on this forum, it might still be for sale at £6.5k, I think

Saw it with previous owner at Brunty in 2008

Far better proposition that that pile even though more expensive

Get someone to go with you from the club if you can to have a look at furure propositions

Hi Rav

Yeah it don't look right mate. As suggested it looks like this might still be for sale http://forums.tipec.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=2544&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=0 Much better starting point. Good luck

Andy

That is one poorly old girl, there isnt any job that I wouldnt tackle but where would you start on that ?
I searched for 18 months for the right car but didnt see any that bad. From the pictures it looks like theres been some previous work that may be hiding even more horrors.
Definitely one to walk away from.
Best of luck in the search.
