Bert of Berlyn posted this on Titanic. Fairly scary for Pork owners running on a budget

Couple of things to think about

The bad exchange rate, this has put prices up by about a third since the summer
Porsche have realised we were buying parts from Germany cheaper than in the UK so now they have changed prices to bring them all in line
Porsche have discontinued a lot of parts 911SC and 928 being hit hard
Low volume models (968) parts were always hard to get with most manufacturers (Boge) only supply Porsche direct
And yes last time I supplied the rear shocks 968 they were 80 ish and they were bought them from Porsche! How can they justify doubling the price
Not bought any Swepco oil for sometime now as I have to buy in Euros so not worth my time as it would be too expensive to sell

Its hard for me to make a living with margins being cut, parts being hard to get and the bad exchange rate, not sure if I will be still trading next year after 23 years!!

Berts one of the best supliers. Will be a shame if he gives up. The exchange rate was bound to impact on spares prices for these cars. Not just Porsche will be effected by this. What can we do. Drive an old Nissan. Think I'd rather walk. Just got my new drop links. £88 a pair from Porsche  Will end up selling it with prices like that. When we all give up & sell up will that make Porsche more money. I think not.

I bought a set of drop links when I bought mine, I think they were around 24 each. At 88 a pair I'd think of making them!

Sorry missed this. Which golf colt??? Are they the same? Would be good to know. Sure it can't be the Mk3 as there long.
Just got mine refitted. The front bushes looked fine but were worn to the metal when taken off. Glad I got the lot. Goes around corners again now. :)

tbh jj i aint too sure, the rubber bushing fits the anti roll bar perfectly but the lollipop stick that goes through the lower arm is a smaller diameter but fits ok with a little jacking and persuasion ;) oh and i think they are somewhere between .99p and £12 each
