That looks like a nice colour really suits the car I think.

Good luck with restoration of sorts.

I've accidentally ended up spending a lot of money on my car which was in good condition before hand but due to be being really fussy have decided to get loads of work done on everything Engine, Bodywork etc.

I truly love that colour and especially the matching Fuchs 8) . I'll bet the interior is a bit smelly and musty, get those cleaning cloths and air fresheners out :D . It shouldn't be too hard to replace the tatty interior bits

I don't mind putting a bit of money into this car as I want it to last. I've had experience of cars that have been skimped out on and they were pretty rubbish. My current VW was ignored on several service items and after much sorting out and a one and a half thousand quid later it's going beautifully. Shame now it's time to sell it it's only worth about £2k

Would love to take it out on a track when I've finished working on it but I want to get it to a point where it's not going to spew oil out everywhere or otherwise breakdown in the process.

Whilst speaking to the current owner they mentioned that Porsche said that it wasn't an original colour, any ideas? There are no signs of different colours under the bonnet or anywhere and I've seen a few others in a similar colour.

Looks like standard Tahoe Blue to me (but photo's can be deceiving), check the sticker in the rear well for the spare wheel, the colour code will be on there, as well as the first page of the original service booklet

I noticed yesterday while looking at a hi res version of the wheel (I should really stop staring at it) that there's a bit of the blue paint by the tyre valve.

Looks like they've been refurbished. I'm just hoping that it's all been done in an original porsche colour or it's going to be hell to get a decent colour match.

Finally managed to pick up my 944 today. Luckily only 1 wheel was stuck so I dismantled the caliper and rebuilt it after shifting the pads from the disc and got the thing moving.

The car is quite messy in places, the carpet in the boot has multi coloured stains all over it, some green, some white, some black and some rust coloured. The air con pipes lead nowhere and are cable tied precariously close to the steering rack. Found a few stray electrical connectors around but have no idea what they are meant to be connected to.

Given the car a bit of a tidy up and have so far have discovered that the heater fan does nothing, electric mirrors do nothing and the windows are painfully slow to operate and need a helping hand. Considering this car has been sat in a garage since 2000 I'd say it's in quite impressive condition.

Checked over the timing and balance belts and they look in brilliant condition which I wasn't expecting so after removing the stale fuel (all 25 litres of it) and slinging some new stuff in discovered that the starter motor is dead. Only way we could get it to turn over was giving it a mighty crack with a hammer whilst turning the key! Got so close to the engine firing up but it wouldn't keep running so we're hoping that's because of the stale fuel in the system.

Anyway on with some pics.

Cheers Jim, I was working on it for near 12 hours today, pretty exhausted now.
Going to try and get a new starter tomorrow and see what happens from there.

You won't have to spend on the bodywork. The rest will just take a bit of time. Aircon doesn't make it go any faster & the window mech's probably need cleaning. Carpets clean up very well with the right stuff. You should have seen mine. Very rewarding project. 8)

I'll get a pic of the carpets later and you might take that back lol. I'm not too fussed about the aircon but would be nice to either repair it or remove it completely.

As for the bodywork it's not as good as the pictures make out, the paint has cracked in a couple of places and on the rear drivers wing there is a chunk missing from the paint and various scratches that I need to try and polish out.

Hi, nice lookin' '44 you've got there. 8) And for free too. (I'm so jealous).

The colour looks a lot like the colour that my 944 is painted in. If it is, it is an original Porsche 944 colour, but not on your car. This colour (Turkis Blu/Turquiose Blue) is a limited edition colour painted on some (believed to be 8 ) 944 S2s.

The colour code is...LM5

Like someone has already said, paint shades can look different in photos, so I may be wrong.

Thanks, it does look very similar to yours. I think I need to take a panel off and nick the little paint colour book they keep in Halfords to compare it.
The car was originally black which I think really suits 944s especially with Fuchs and depending on how hard it is to colour match the blue (I've not heard positive things) it may return back to black oneday as several panels need touching up and the drivers door and front bumper need replacing.
