944 s2 windscreen radio aerial
I seem to be suffering from very low signal strength, not enough sometimes to keep Radio 2 locked on, go into a cutting on the M25 and the radio starts station seeking and this within a few miles of Wrotham transmitter.
I have checked the appropriate wiring diagram and have volts on the aerial connection at the back of the radio. What I cannot find is the aerial amplifier, anyone know where it is and having found it how do I check it?
Bruce.

It's at the bottom of the windscreen under the bonnet. On my Lux it's on the driver side. It's a box of matches size & black.

Radio booster was £76 + Vat for my 944 cab. Its a standard Porsche part I believe so try any supplier - Berts, P Apart etc. I can now hear music!brulynn wrote:Thanks for the location also the tip about reconnection, where do you get the upgrade?

Thanks, Richard. I checked mine out this afternoon. No black matchbox near wipers but did find the aerial to wiring connection and that is fine. The wire to the radio goes thro a hole in the bulkhead and disappears! I think I'll have to buy a booster.

My only concern is that he doesn't say if its tested & works.
Its all very well taking these things out of a 20 year old car, but they degrade over the years.
Seriously, I'd go for a new one that you know will give you a good reception!

Afraid so ... the night is yet young. Comes from College days working through the night.lindsayhbrown wrote:blimey that was a quick reply, are you nocturnal like me ?
I'm nothing. My 20 year old daughter never hits the sack until at least 4 am!! She's on Face Book now, planning how to get herself to a N Year Eve party in Surrey. I've a nasty feeling I'm about to be asked to wheel out the 911. But I shall resist repeat resist, resist ....
My Mother's earliest was usually about 1.30 am!

Actually that's a load of garbage - I spent two hours scraping the mud off her the other day! A sh*te 911 is a happy 911!

I have a muddy private road access to my house, and the owner of it refuses to do anything to improve it. One of the reasons the Estate Agent is round next week to value as I can't cope with being confined to barracks! I have to wait for winter very cold frosty days when the mud has solidified ...lindsayhbrown wrote:mines a bit of a garage queen too, but enjoyed a gooc thrash today on dry roads
