Just wanted to post and find out whether (in the midst of all the doom and gloom - financial crisis etc) there is sufficient appetite for a club track day in 2009?

Looking at the various options we can go for an aerodrome like Bruntingthorpe at around £115 -£125 or a recognised circuit which all seem to fall in the £160- £200 range

Please add your name if you would be interested and which circuit type you would prefer.

Thanks

Paul

Last year’s was probably the best day out with the car I had all year. Finances may prevent me from doing it again so soon, but I thoroughly recommend it to everybody.

If I lived further south, I’d be up for it no question—but travelling down and staying overnight makes things a bit pricey.

I`m up for it been a while since I`ve been on the track. Mate I live only 6 miles from the M40 and the M5, M42 and M6 are a stones throw from here so if you wanted to bunk down at mine your most welcome, that goes for anyone else that may need a rest stop. Breakfast included and at a very reasonable rate, only joking if I can help its not a problem.

Hi :)

I would be up for it IF no noise limits lol....

Somehow I doubt they would allow 120 + decibels :(

All the best Brett :)

Brett, given that:

a) everywhere has a noise limit these days; usually of 105dB max (and many tracks are 100dB or less)
and
b) 120dB is the threshold of pain, so a little excessive wouldn't you agree?

Moving along, one therefore has to wonder why you feel the need

a) to have a car that is so impractically noisy that effectively it can't be run anywhere (except maybe Santa Pod?)
and
b) to post about how noisy it is and that you therefore can't run it

The solution to these problems is in your hands; why not do something constructive instead of just whining on about it?

Of course, the cynical amongst us might think that this noise issue is simply a ploy so that you'll never actually have to do your much-talked about 200MPH run - why not silence the car & get the run done?

Or perhaps I am missing something? :glasses7:

Hi :)

Yes you are missing something....

You said "why not silence the car & get the run done?"

The answer is for my "runs" it CANNOT be quiet....

For the road, I have had to put my back box, back on as its my daily driver, which drops it into the 90`s DB wise....

For the amount of Nitrous I will need then its 120 Db for my runs....

And if you think its easy, what I am attempting...then you try it lol :)

As an example today I fitted another $1400 worth of stuff to the car to improve it...

All the best Brett :)

definately, would prefer a track as opposed to brunters, runway tracks are tyre killers :(

personally, i'd be happy with two days are curborough, instead of the proposed one....

that said, i'd do brunters, just not on the track tyres, so no pink lol

Right, so for a trackday you need full power / noise why exactly?
BTW, if you're going to use the abbreviation for decibel, please get it right - little "d" & big "B" dB

Not my thing old chap - I, like most, got past pointless willy-waving whilst still at primary school. Whatever floats your boat though.

Hmm, interesting notion of "improve" given that the car is effectively unusable for your stated aim.

Hi :)

Hmmm....and a GT3 isn't willy waving lol....looks like it to me....

The people who take the mickey out of me and my Nitrous 928 always seem to be the ones who would hate the thought that a 23 year old 928 could beat their GT3/996/997.....you know the ones...they "think" theirs is the fastest thing on wheels because they paid such a lot for it....

My car "may" be unusable for 200 plus >>> in YOUR opinion....

But I don't buy my power....I use technical know how and spanners to get mine....

And in MY opinion my 928 will do it.....

Now ONE of us is wrong.....

I already seem to look silly in lots of peoples eyes , so its not a problem to me....

Just imagine how utterly stupid you are going to look if I am right :)

All the best Brett :)

Please point to one post I have ever made, anywhere, where I have willy-waved about my car, what it has cost me, what it can do, how fast it is/might be, let alone how much noise it makes. Go on, I challenge you.

You, on the other hand, have littered various fora with such posts over an extended period.

I rest my case.

I really couldn't give a toss - not my thing, as I pointed out earlier. Also, please don't ascribe motives for what I post - such crude attempts to lead us off-topic are doomed to fail.
That said, it's funny how you seem to want to put it all down to me worrying about money, when the evidence is that you're the one who's banged on endlessly about how much you have spent / will spend in previous posts. There's a saying in racing "When the flag drops, the bullshit stops". Honest enquiry: when's your flag going to drop?
Quote:

Opinion doesn't enter into it. Let's try to stick to the facts, shall we? FACT: Your stated aim is to do 200MPH in your 928. FACT: Producing a car with such a loud exhaust means that you can't run it anywhere. Therefore the car is effectively "unusable" for its stated purpose (doing 200MPH). Is there a flaw in that logic? If so, please use facts to refute it.

But I don't buy my power....I use technical know how and spanners to get mine....

Straw man. Please try to stay on topic.

All I know is that long after announcing you were going to do 200MPH, you don't seem to have done it - sorry, could you remind me who's looking stupid again? Please give reasons.

I have a serious offer for you Brett. Although I am not a betting man, I'm willing to put up cash in the form of a bet. You decide on a date by which time your car will have (provably) done a 200MPH run & we'll talk terms.

Over to you.

Hi :)

I am sooooo tempted lol....

Let me tell you a little about myself...

I am a businessman these days and I never gamble....no horses, no dogs , nothing...

Unless its a stone cold certainty....

So if I were to bet say £10.000 or £20.000 with you that I would do it this year, you are seriously about to lose some money....

People say a lot of things about me.....aggressive, big headed, nasty, old, ugly lol....I am sure you can add some other adjectives yourself, but noone has ever accused me of stupidity.....

You also should have asked how close I have got so far :)

I will even tell you part of the answer....>>> 1*1

The asterisk you will have to guess :)

Now , you still want to bet ???

Hmmmm...

All the best Brett :)
