Glad you came out of it unscathed.

Let us know how you get on with the insurance people, are you going to keep the salvage?

Thanks guys. I plan on taking the cash as long as it is reasonable. I simply don't have the time/space/money to fix it up and tbh I have no real bodywork experience.

No it's a rather ignominious end for the poor car but it has to go I'm afraid, unless you can think of anyone who might want to buy it as a project/for spares ? ;) ;)

It may be worth considering buying it back off the insurers and breaking it. There's probably a list of guys just on here who want parts that you have available on the car. And then there' sall the other sites and the flea bay site too.

Sit and have a think about it before writing the idea off. Only you know what is and isn't good on it.

I hear you john and it would ordinarily be good advice, but I have no room to store it, no time to break it, and certainly not the heart. I gave the thing quite a lot of TLC in the two years I had it and despite it being only a lump of steel etc you can't help but get attached :(

Besides I have a house to finish and a woman nagging for bigger things  :P

bad news, glad you're ok, a bentley turbo r did a similar thing in front of me the other morning on the a500 just of j15 in stoke, no damage this time but missed a lamp-post by inches, and the older chap driving it just sat there in shock

TBH if I had the space I'd get Adam to buy it back & break it here & in the past I've broken loads of cars. It takes space & time but can be rewarding, especially when it was as good pre-accident as Adams.

It's a good engine. And that's increasingly rare. Must be worth reshelling it? Plenty of tidy '44s out there needing a rebuild that end up being broken as it's no longer economic to do an engine rebuild. Winter Project Adam? :) Or take the easy route & get Colt to do it for you with a Tipec discount. You could make a profit on it if your careful. :)

lol i wouldn't want to start reshelling or doing major work like that but...i would sell him a perfectly good bodied car that needs he's engine and rear axle ;)

saz's car has a bad engine and bad r/wheel bearings no PS but thats all the rest is good and solid.

Well the car went away on a loader this morning.

I've been arguing with the insurance company a bit because they are refusing to value the car until it has been 'recovered'

In the end I had to give in so it has now been carted off (minus a few bits ;))

They are also demanding all the paperwork including V5 so I am going to have to spend an awful lot of time with a photocopier :(

I don't think it will be long after that before an offer is made but I'll eat my hat if it's anywhere near what the car is worth !

So all in all not a happy bunny today.

I'm thinking I've already killed one nice classic 944 so probably ought not to be trusted with another :(

Theres still time to buy it back & transplant the engine & gearbox into another tidy but tired car. Trust me you will always regret letting it go.
Hope you get a fair price for it whatever. :) (Right now I would sell you the eco car. Off the road again!)

Cheer up mate, there will soon be a cheque in the post. Don't accept the first offer, make sure you have all the bills etc & do some research as to a replacement price as a bargaining lever with the assessor.
Accidents happen, you looked after & cherished it what more can you do? There were around 137,000 built so it's not like it's unique.
Get another, you'll hate running around in a banger

Any grief from them in terms of value, I'll happily help argue your case.
