Fitted replacement Osram NightBreaker H4 bulbs to my S2 last night and other than the issue of getting the lamp covers off thsy are literally brilliant. Went for the standard 55/65W direct replacements as couldn't be bothered re-wiring or replacing fuses and thay are fantastic I can actually see the end and shape of the beam in the distance whereas before I just had a puddle of yelow in front of the car. Cant say I have tried the high beam properly yet but first impressions are that is much better too.

Got them off eBay £11.45 per pair plus postage so around £13.30 which compared to Halfords own version at around £15 each. If anyone is interested the eBay shop is powerbulbsdirect and the service was perfect bought them Monday morning and they arrived Tuesday noon with plenty of communications from the seller. Will replace the sidelights and driving lamps next but will probably up the wattage of the driving lamps and check and change fuses and relays where necessary.

First thing I did when I bought mine was change to the same bulbs, and also noticed a big improvement. I also changed the wiper blades for retro fit aero ones and the difference was astounding.
I got both from http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/home.p ... QgodVDybFA
That was a good price you paid

I will be interested to see how long your NightBreakers last. I agree that they are much better than standard, but Alison's Fabia is now on it's second set inside 12 months!

The 968 currently has Phillips Extreme bulbs in the head lamps whic hare also a good improvement over standard. I was planning on using 100/160W H4s which I have in the garage, but couldn't be bothered with upgrading the wiring and adding relays either.

I hope they last longer than 12 months, you didn't touch the glass while installing them did you?

No, I do know what I'm doing you know :D

Well, most of the time anyway 8)

I think that there have been posts on either the Skoda or Seat Forums complaining that they don't last. I think that the comment from Osram was that they were intended for main beam only!

Don't know how that is supposed to tie in with the H4s though.

For the sake of a few quid, the ability to see where you going is worth it, even if they dont last last as long as standard bulbs :)

Sorry Simon, I know you know what you are doing I can not see how Osram can say they are intended for one type of beam only when they are sold as you say H4 main and dip but lets see how they fare, if they do fail early I will try some Philips Extreme and if they don't laast I might go for a HID conversion.
