that reminds me of some other stupid sayings....
when i was about 4, my mom was dragging me off somewhere, when i asked where we were going she replied "timbuktu".

we weren't allowed to swear in our house (obviously to fuckin' posh) but if my mom and dad were ever arguing my mom would regularly come out with "bugger me seven times" which is clearly far worse than anything you ever heard in the school playground.
