It's not just there, it's everywhere. And it's not just cars. I run the Homewatch Scheme in our village and therefore receive loads of info from the Police. Look at this one I received this week, it's written by a policeman -

I received a phone call this morning from a friend who does not want to make a complaint but I feel I should bring this to your attention. Early this morning three men in a transit van were disturbed trying to lift a small pony over a fence in the Cheshire area. When approached they dropped the pony and one man jumped in the van and drove off leaving the other two to leg it. Unfortunately no description other than it was a transit van was given to me but this information is genuine so please make people aware of thieves in the area looking for small ponies. We have not had any horses or ponies reported stolen in the Knutsford area but as always, please be vigilant, and report any suspicious incidents to Cheshire Police.

Also, as well as people leaving their ponies in fields unattended, I see a lot of cars ticking over on driveways when I do my paper-round. This morning for example an Audi A6 ticking over, and the bloke was in his house thirty yards away - unbelievable.

Transit vans are good for towing caravans aren't they.... I wonder what type of people they were nicking ponies - any guesses? Have I mentioned that we have been invaded by Gypsies in our village?

Friend of mine had his nissan micra stolen twice on the same night! Got back from work, looked out the window 15 minutes later - car gone. Police found it dumped in a layby. Sent a recovery truck out for it. Was gone when they got there. Found tourched a few days later.

Insurance eventually payed out the trivial sum they offer for an old micra. Got himself a 306. 2 days later, some scrote had put a screwdriver through the door skin and been in the car. He hadnt got around to putting a radio in so not even anything for them to steal!!
