Membership renewels online

Post by brulynn »

I would have renewed my membership on line but it meant signing up to a Google account. These days of rising internet fraud I did not want another internet account. From reading other forums, many members use eBay, is there any reason why the club cannot sign up with PayPal?

No issues with Google, we've been using it for a year.

Paypal was considered but Google was felt to be the way to go by our developers. Also much less spamming for Google than Paypal.

So that's a No then. I've been using PayPal for years with no problem and no spamming.

Hi :)

Thats just an anti Paypal site....nothing about Spam from there....

I have used PayPal quite happily for years with ZERO spam attributed to it....

On the other hand, I wont use GMAIL ...for the same spam reasons....

All the best Brett :)

Brett, I believe by spam, Sean may be refering to the abundance of paypal "phishing" emails. These are a fairly continuous problem, and some of them I have recieved are even pretty convincing.

Google is no more immune to this than any other site, but paypal is the service that seems to bear the brunt of the activity.

I have received no more than half a dozen Paypal phishing emails in over 4years of having an account, surely if we are bright enough to own a Porsche we shouldnt be taken in by such activities. Back to my original point, the more internet accounts one has, the greater the risk of being 'done'. It would be good to know how many members already have a PayPal account. It fairness, I dont even know if it would possible for the club to have a Paypal account for the payment of subs.
