I received the insurance quote for my car the other day, £499. This was with the same company as last year and although they told me it was the best quote they could find, I decided to call them as it seemed expensive. After less than a minute they told me they had found another quote, this time for £347  Why did it take a call to save me over £150?

It's called 'renewal inertia' (or it was when I worked in insurance many years ago).

Most people habitually renew their existing policy so the company knows they can incease the price and most people simply pay it. If you query it and they genuinely want to keep your business then it can be quickly dropped so the customer is kept happy.

Thanks, Its Metalic Rainforest green. I love the colour and the fact it is relatively rare, is nice too. I've always liked the classy look of Aston's, Jag's and MG's in British racing green, this, IMHO is an improvement by Porsche on BRG . When its polished up, its superb and brings a smile to my face just looking at it.

That looks stunning & I don't do Green anything let alone cars.
One of my guys has a Rainforest 996 & I'm sure it's a lighter, dare I say it more BRG than that. It looks like Aventura Green to me which is darker. What is the paint code?

Hi Tom,

Whilst on the stand at the NEC last weekend I took time out to visit friends on the Marcos stand

On the way back to the TIPEC stand I was stopped by a young lady offering insurance quotes. It was the Sureterm Direct people

The quote arrived in the post yesterday

Guess what, a reduction from £337 to £238 for my 993

What's more it is through the same company that I am with now, can't believe it; trying to find the con / catch even the policy seems the same

Mymerak,
Nice one, that's a great quote for a 993  How many miles per year is that for? I also questioned the Wife's quote for the family Sharan (Expensive month November, two insurances and two car taxes, OUCH), that went down £73  It definitely seems to pay to discount the first offer.

Hi Tom,

The quote was for 5000 miles per year, protected no claims bonus and the boss as second driver.

Hi Sam,

The value of the car is on the polcy and I have a certificate of valuation signed by Sean as a back up. However, this is not agreed value, that's something which has to be subsequently confimed by the insurer

Driving abroad is free cover in most European countries

Also included is free European breakdown cover

Hi Sam,

Forgot, it is garaged.

Some members think it's a bit of a garage queen but it's not

The only time it has been clean clean was at the NEC last weekend

However, it did gain a gold award in the grey tyres category, signed by Sean and an ex national concours winner who was also displaying on our stand

2B4 is Rainforest Green according to this website. http://www.elitespoilers.com/inc/sdetail/572?noc=true
Must be the colour distortion in the pics cos it looks very different to Niges 996!
