Do the three wires go anywhere?

Put a picture up to get a better response - a picture of the black box not of you!

Has it ever been fitted with a tow bar, it could be the indicator warning

Or has it got/had reversing sensors

My S2 has a similar black box and connector in the battery well I always assumed it was something to do with an alarm that was fitted at some time tried to trace the wires but they disappear into the bodywork and without taking it apart have no way of finding the source. I have connected mine back up and checked for voltage which indicates about 4.5vdc but when I took the lid of the box the LED inside was not lit. The internals do not look like Porsche fitment so assumed it was a aftermarket alarm module maybe for motion sensors. I have just left mine disconnected and it has had no effect on the operation of the car or existing alarm.

car phone kit?

I ripped a kit out of mine recently, didn't have a box but it had the bracket in one of the storage compartments in the boot with a big old wiring loom lying nearby.

Something about this rings a bell for me, and if I'm right it's something to do with the alarm. My car doesn't have it but I think I've read about it on Titanic.

Took some pictures of the one in my S2 see if it is the same as yours, don't think it carries too much current as the cables from the connector into the car are very small similar to telephone cable. Apologies for the poor quality battery was going in my camera and no flash available.

That'll be why my ultrasonic sensors don't work then. Will try plugging it in again and checking a bit more deeply as sensors fitted nicely into rear panels.
