Hi all - work has taken a slight slow down, so you now have the pleasure of my company again :D

I know you have all missed me...

So have i missed anything important? any track events or are we over for this season... I did a day at curborough a couple of weeks ago, gave the gt3's and 996's the run around too... my car is immense, very very happy with the final setup and my skill of course ;)

I think i prefer sprints to track days if I'm honest...

here is my fave pic from the day...

So how you all been keeping?
Wow! that looks exciting, right on the limit eh? :)

The secret to getting on the cover is to have some really, really nice photos! Cover shots need to be portrait not landscape, if you know what I mean - and it helps if there's lots of space above the car for the area where the magazine's title goes.

That aside, it would be really, really great if you fancied writing a piece about your car. Quite a few readers have been asking me to feature more powerful, modified, or track-focused cars. I can only do that if somebody who owns one has a go at writing about it!

Feel free to ask for help if you need any - from myself, from Paul as offered above, and if you’re not sure about getting photos yourself, there’s bound to be another member living near you who’s a dab hand with a camera.

For reference, a double-page article tends to be around 800–1,000 words once I’ve left space for big sexy photos. If you end up needing double that, or even more, there’s always the option of splitting it across more than one issue and making it a wee series.

How about my new avatar pic for a cover? :)

Hi Demonfish,

Good to see you back in circulation and at the club night in October

There you are then, as I said to you long ago it would be be great if you could write an article for the club magazine

If you want photos doing I will gladly help, however this time of the year ain't the best, due to poor light and weather

Looks like we know have two more cars well set up by Chris Franklin at Center Gravity and a bit exciting on the limit.

Did you manage to increase your speed on the roundabout test or am I still 2 mph behind you (no speeds mentioned please). I expect you have moved the goalposts yet again

Hopefully we will see you at club night on 10th November and if not perhaps we will meet up at the NEC in the middle of November

the article has already been submitted - 3am this morning, and we've had a chat about cover shots, and if i can get it sorted this weekend prior to monday deadline, it should be hilarious if it gets used :D

i trimmed it back to about 3400 words, but its all good !!

no doubt i will be there at the red lion too :D

If you've got a (really) big copy of the picture, by all means email it over to me (tony@typescape.com) or get my address from the front of All Torque to pop a CD in the post. It’s always good to have a few options for the cover that I can keep hold of for future issues.

its on here Tony. http://s483.photobucket.com/albums/rr194/944bloke/ the original is the one on the very right hand side of the top row which im assuming is 640x480 (large). I tried to resize it downwards 4 times to tiny but still couldnt get it to work for the avatar.Jim Tarrant kindly sorted it for me and had to shave a bit off the top and bottom to get it to avatar size. So going the other way (bigger) photobucket offer 800x600(15"screen) 1024x768 (17"screen) and 1 megabyte file size,so which is the best for you? Regards John. :)

Sadly, that’s not going to be anywhere near large enough.

When you've viewing stuff on screen it’s at a resolution of 72dpi (dots per inch). That’s the level of detail. In print I need to work at 300dpi—the level of detail is much, much higher.

So, if I take your image which is 640 x 480 and print that at 300dpi, it’s only 5.5 x 4cm or thereabouts.

For a full A4 front cover I need the image to be a minimum of 2,600 x 3,600 pixels—and preferable a lot more than that so I have a bit of leeway to move the image around and fit it nicely amongst the headline etc.

Hope that helps explain … I don’t ever want to be the guy who says “no” without explaining the reasons!
