MOT September 2006 at 151276 miles - passed
MOT September 2007 at 168498 miles - failed because a fog light bulb was missing. My fault because I'd forgotten to replace it.
MOT October 2008 at 181907 miles - passed.

So 13409 miles over the thirteen months (it was overdue) and nothing is wrong. In fact he said he couldn't even find anything that needed 'advice'. The engine exhaust emissions readings all indicate, quote - 'a very strong engine', and the car is, quote - 'a very solid car'.

The clutch and exhaust are still the original. Over the last twelve months I have spent no money on the car apart from new tyres and a CD player.

Last thing, I took the company's advertisement page out of the Northwich Guardian and only paid £30 instead of the normal £52 - bargain.

It just shows what quality cars these are, well worth the £36000 the previous owner (I'm the second owner) paid for it in 1991.

You can't write this John, everyone says old cars are unreliable that's why you have to buy shiny new ones every three years
Mine did 38K in 18 months & aside from servicing needed a clutch slave cylinder!

This also gives weight to the argument that these cars are much better and more reliable when actually used!

Quite mad it would seem but so far the car has been even cheaper than free as I found £1.26 under the passenger seat when I removed it. I wonder what treasures lurk beneath the drivers side?

Some of us are lucky. Some arn't. Still I think when I eventualy get to the end it will be worth it. I just need this kind of reliability for a year or two. Picked the wife up from her mates last night. Insrument lights died along with all the interior lights. And the tailgate poped open. Apart from that it ran like a dream. Ordered loads more bits from club autosport.

The tail gate will pop open because the latches haven't caught properly. There are two possible reasons. Firstly they may need lubricating - open the hatch and then turn the key in the lock and oil the latches as they move in and out. Secondly if the latches are secured too tightly they won't move in and out as easily - so just slacken the two nuts off that hold each one on and see if that helps.

Already tried all that. There seized solid. Have had to order new T nuts I pins. Also ordered a pair of new door switchs. So the alarm/central locking knows if the doors are open or not!
