I am helping my daughter to restore her first car, which rather pleasingly is a 1983 Guards Red Porsche 924. We bought it in autumn of 2024 as a non runner and have been working on it ever since. Last weekend we were able to drive it around 50 miles to our first show at Petroyle near Burford!

We had a great time and the car received lots of positive comments. However, upon starting the car to come home - we were let down. The Petroyle team were great and quickly diagnosed the fuel pump relay. They even made us an emergency jumper cable to get us home.
I have been researching these relays and see that they are NLA. However, i found https://www.design911shop.com/p/fuel-pump-relay-porsche-924-1979-85-433906060-433906059/?currency=GBP&country=GB&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17655463874&gbraid=0AAAAAD_S1pNGdxIL_3WZoGHLIvp-hJTmo&gclid=CjwKCAjw_pDBBhBMEiwAmY02NgOe-NIiD154xxas7RmRoAH0OVGm57sZjZf0Q5JATNhZ0tLA1GtYmhoCb80QAvD_BwE relay on Design911.

A managed to get in touch with the guy in Hungary who makes these and he told me that the repay above was not compatible with my car. Its something to do with the fuel pump primming and not primming on initial start up.

Since buying and receiving the relay, i have not been able to start the car with it. It seems like the fuel pump does not run with the new relay. I have asked the seller who has told me that the car is at fault. He asked me to send some voltage readings and this has been back and forth a few times now.

Is anyone an expert here and let me know what I need and if the car is at fault. Do i need the Design 911 relay or do i really need the one he sent over?

For reference, the 'old' relay we have in the car is 896321.
