964 Carrera dash lights and dials.

Post by Paul Heath »

Firstly hello, new guy and first post.

I have a 964 Coupe which has developed an intermittent problem. Driving it the last few days all fine but went back today and unlocked as normal and drove fine, parked for around 20 minutes, went back and had no dash lights (warning not illumination) or dials. Everything came back within a few minutes whilst being revved but dropped off again whilst at traffic lights. the battery warning lights was on dimly whilst this as happening. Recently had new battery and alternator.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Probably your new alternator has a faulty rectifier pack. It could be an earthing fault somewhere on the dash or the warning light circuit.

Thanks Jim, don't lose indicators lights in dash. Everything else springs back to life once driven for a short while. Engine starts fine with no dashlights on.

All resolved if anyone suffers the same issue. Need to replace the test relay (relay 11) as it was faulty, swapped it with the fog light relay and all working fine.
