944 engine 2.5 into early 924, will it fit straight in, or are they different?
Thanks

Re: 944 engine into 924
The engine mounts differently. For the 2.0 924 engine it hangs on mounts (under brake booster & above the exhaust manifold) but the 2.5 engine sits on the cross member which is also a different design. Taking into account the work required it might be better to consider just selling/buying a 924s or look at a 1.8t VW/Audi swap.
Obviously nothing is impossible and would be great to se your progress no matter which route you go down.

Re: 944 engine into 924
Thanks for the reply, I haven’t bought anything yet, but know of a 924 locally that may available ( unfinished project, stripped to shell ).
I had an early 944 project a couple of years ago, but wrong time and too many cars at the time. Anyway, the plan was to retro mod that using the 2.5 engine with modern turbo, intake and management, doing away with ancient ecu, dme etc.
Whilst I appreciate the benefits of dropping a BAM engine in ( of which I have one in my 225 Quattro), that’s not the route I want to take.
There is also an ‘85 944 I was offered a few months ago, so if too much hassle to fit 2.5 into 924, may consider that instead.
Thanks again
Alan.

You will need a 944 series one or 924S crossmember, steering rack etc.
