You have to wonder at the randomness of the MOT system.
Took the 944 in today for it’s annual MOT and it failed. Half expected this because the car has been pretty much unused for the last 18 months.
Reviewing the fails;
Washer jet blocked. Okay, don’t have a pin on me.
Parking Brake under efficiency. Okay, it’s been kept in a garage for 18 months with ithe hand brake off.
Ball joint worn with excessive wear. Not okay, I’ve driven it less than 500 miles since the last MOT. No mention of excessive wear on last MOT.
Don’t get me wrong, if there’s a fault it needs to be corrected. Just wouldn’t expect a ball joint to disintegrate in less than 500 miles.
Plus it had a service last year and it wasn’t mentioned there either.

Re: MOT
Check it is the balljoint that has play, the garage I use suggested that I had play in the balljoint & called me over to take a look. On closer inspection there was a small amount of play in the shock absorber whilst it was fully extended with no load. This was acceptable and they passed the car with no advisories.
