944S2 Sills

Post by paulie71 »

Hello All. Can anyone recommend a good company to repair the sills on a 1990 S2. Willing to consider anywhere nationwide, although near London or Birmingham is especially good. Thanks in advance.

Smack in the middle of Brum and London too if that helps.

Do your homework before you commit to anything with the above - I've heard some stories that would make me think twice.

These cars aren't rocket science - any good reputable body repair specialist should be able to fix the sills on a 944. Find somewhere with good feedback and perhaps ask for details of recent work and any owners willing to stand by the results.

Paulie71, I'm in the same boat as you. I may also need some work on the lower arches.

I could also do anywhere between London and Birmingham so am interested in where you decide upon.

I did find a place with lots of positive reviews. Will have a search and post here if I find them. They are however (out of memory) west or south of London so not sure if that works for you?

That was easier easier than I thought it was going to be.

See here - http://www.pbcm.co.uk/

I do remember reading quite a few positive reviews but haven't spoken to them myself yet.

My car is currently with JMG so will be asking them to recommend someone too before deciding.

I can recommend Paul Baker as he did a great job on my S2 a few years ago .
Inner and outer sills , both rear quarters and a rear panel . Kept me informed at all times and handed me a dvd at the end with 200 photos showing the work as it progressed to keep with history of car. This was before he was vat registered so might cost a touch more now .

Can I ask (ball park) what that cost?

Sure , from memory around £2000 for the sills , metal work only. This included repairing edge of floor and making the sills as they were unavailable from Porsche at that time . I believe both inner and outer are available again .

My sills are also beginning to show signs that they'll need doing soon, so I'd also be interested in recommendations for a trustworthy and capable place to get them done, amongst other things.

Discounting the above as one sounds great but is is too far away (south coast) and the less said about the other, the better.

There must be someone up to the job near Northants and surrounding counties?
