Was having a nosey around under the front end of my 944 today wondering what a plug did that was hanging about which I have decided is probably for an Air Conditioning fan which has been removed when I noticed something about my front bumper. Other than being not entirely straight it is made from glass fibre.

Is this right? I would expect an aftermarket kit to be made from the stuff but not an OEM item, the front valance is not made from the same stuff although it has been repaired in the past.

The damage to the valance and the fact that the bumper is further in on one side compared to the other makes me wonder if it has been in a bit of a shunt in the past and the bumper was replaced. I'm not sure if it's due to what the bumper is made from or a hamfisted previous owner using whatever screws they had to hand but many of the tabs holding the driving lights and indicators in place have been broken and seem to be mainly held in by 1 screw and the grille on the front.

Also does the AC system have a separate fan and if so where should it be?

Pretty sure the A/C uses a second fan if fitted, but the loom is built to spec, so unless it had a/c which has been removed it won't have been wired for.

The Porsche OEM PU is black & a plastic errr.... PU material, shouldn't be GRP.

Actually the rear bumper shell is GRP - or something very like it, so I expect a Lux front would be the same.

The lower part of the front bumper is a plastic type of "plastic", it should be flexible. The front bumper on my 86 LUX never sat straight it was over to one side by about 15mm in the centre just below the number plate, no matter how many times I took if off it would never sit straight .

I think the bumpers were made from a GRP type substance as both my 44's bumpers are made from it. (front and rear)

Mine isn't over to one side but is too far in as if one end has been pushed in. You can make it out in this pic. If you look at the offside you'll see that the bumper is quite far in compared to the valance and the nearside isn't quite as far in (although still needs pulling out slightly).

I noticed a similar thing with my bumper when i removed it to do some tidying up in the engine bay and around the lights, towards the bends of the bumper it was how can i say this, it appeared to have been strengthened with fibre glass, but cause both sides were the same i never said anything, but my bumper does actually sit fairly straight. But mine is white on the reverse oppose to black!

That's the plan, was just checking whether it was the right part first.

There are also a few brackets missing, one side of the front valance is securely held by a cable tie

But before I get that done I'm trying to figure out why my blower motor doesn't do anything. Still trying to figure out how to get the switch out of the dash.

To get the blower panel out, you have to start at the clock end. Look up clarkes on changing the clock bulb.

Oops Tilt..... Not a clue then, although the Haynes manual will be OK as that covers an earlier car. Mine is in the garage so I can't get to it.

Yup none of that fancy ovalness. I have the heater control panel off but I can't see how to remove the switch.

Tried pushing in the metal clip and pushing it out from behind but it seems trapped on the opposite side somehow. Had a flick through the haynes manual and it doesn't mention anything other than removing the steering wheel and stalks.
