window won't drop when the door handle is lifted. 996 model

Hi all ,as the title suggests the window won't drop when the door is tried either from inside or out .The micro switch is making an attempt to do its thing but the window stays where it is.. .So could it be a new regulator or is it on need of resetting?? has anyone had this problem (I tried the search box earlier but couldn't find anything like this for a 996) thanks in advance for the help

thanks ,just read it and its definitely the regulator so I'll order one tomorrow.
