Hi. I'm going to look at some Cup 3 alloys tomorrow for my 993 C2:

Tyres - Nankang - Ultra Sport NS 2
Fronts - 7.5Jx18 ET50 - 993.362.134.06 - 225/40 ZR18 92W
Rears - 9Jx18 ET52 - 993.362.138.01 - 265/35 ZR18 93W

My question is, brand snobbery aside, does anyone have any experience of these tyres on a 911? I want the wheels and will tolerate the tyres until they wear out but don't want to risk anything. I don't track the car and drive quickly but not like a loon... Any thoughts welcome!

i had nankang on my 944S when i got it, can't remember the numbers but they were V rated, okish in the dry, seriously iffy in the wet tho', made exitting roundabouts in the wet interesting, and mostly sideways !!

I knew a guy with a 1980's 3.2 Carrera that had Nankangs fitted when he bought it.

He soon affectionatley named them as Nankang KDF's (Korean Ditch Finders)

It'd be worth checking the date stamp on the sidewall & finding out how old they are as well, dodgy tyres = bad enough; dodgy, old tyres = lethal!
Take it steady & find out what they're like but they're 40-50% of the decent ones so that should be an indication

If you want to know what there like. Go be a hooligan in a B&Q car park. Just drive in a tight circle increasing the speed until it breaks. Or if you don't want to get arrested. Go get yourself some new rubber! (seriously I did this, at 6 in the morning when there was no one about. Better than droping it. )
