Remote locking fob not working.

Just bought our 1999 2.5 Boxster. It's generally in exceptional condition inside and out / mechanically. The only fault is the remote locking doesn't !

Opens with key in door lock and OK as long as you insert key before 30 seconds and the alarm goes berserk.All the other electrics seem to be fine.

Is this a common fault / fix ?

2 things to note on those remotes.

Firstly, if the car isn't used in (can't remember how many days might be 5) it goes into sleep mode,
put your key into the lock and turn but DoNot open the door. remove key, Now use the remote to unlock it.

If the remote still isn't working, remove the remote battery, turn it upside down and replace. Press the remote buttons. Remove and replace the correct way around . This resets the fob if it needs resetting.

Yup 5 days for early cars 7 days for later ones. Check battery in fob & then clean connections. Also check carpets are dry as water leaks can kill modules & wiring, normally when the drains are blocked.
