Still don't understand all this over engineering, cowl, ducts, s bends going way up into the front fender; don't see any similar alternator cooling on other cars!?

That would be a benefit because of the heat over here.

Blade and Waylander spot on. A cool alternator works much better and will output more voltage when cool. My car, before ducting sorted, would put out 14v cold then sink to 13v with a bit of heat soak. Having the ac and heated screen on, lights on, would see barely over 12v on the gauge. It now sits at 14v all the time under normal conditions and will show over 13v with everything switched on.

Engineers done a great job on these cars. Once the accountants starting building them (996 on) things haven't been the same.

In the midst of doing all these jobs on my Turbo - the air duct was in dire need of replacement due to corrosion of the metal reinforcement.

Just to help future readers of this thread the duct itself is standard 60mm reinforced air ducting, I got a metre of neoprene duct from ebay for just shy of £10

And then you want a couple of 55-70mm jubilee style hose clips to finish the job off.

EDIT: and if you want a cheap source of Voltage Regulators you just need a 14.5V 28mm mount version - BERU GER 004 is the one to get.

I think it is robbery that there are some so called "Porsche Parts Specialists" that get mentioned on here from time to time selling this part for 4 x the price.
