I've just bought a space saver wheel for my 924S. I also got a securing pin and plate. Does anyone know if I need other washers etc because pin seems too long? Cheers, Steve

My 924S has a standard 15" 175ish permanently inflated spare marked as emergency only and uses what looks like a shorter bolt with a loop on the end to secure it to the boot than that in my 944S2 which has a fold away type spare and the bold has no loop only a hex head. I suspect you have the wrong bolt.

You could always try turning the securing plate back to front so the bevel stands out rather than in if the bolt is not too much longer than it should be.

Many thanks for some swift help. This probably means I've just spent £60 to buy a space-saver that doesn't go with my car!! Cheers, Steve

Hi Steve, finally found your way here then? :P

You should have a long bolt with an eye in the end & a large shaped washer, bit difficult to describe in text but easy to show you. You coming to the Crownpoint Inn on Friday, I'lll show you then?

Hi Jim. Just had a reply from someone who reckons his 924S only has a trad type spare and a shorter bolt. His 944S2 has a space-saver with a longer bolt with only a hex head - I'm mystified. Just spent £60 (inc £10 post) on a space saver and bolt/plate but bolt is too long! Bugger!
Sorry but once again can't make it Friday. Steve

No excuse !

Yup some cars had space savers, like a skinny conventional tyre around 165 x 15 & others have a BF Goodrich space saver which is put in the boot deflated & needs pumping up to use. I think 924S & early 944 only ever had the skinny conventional tyre. Later cars had a 15inch BF Goodrich thing & S2 & Turbo used a 16Inch version of this.

Here's what I have in my early 944. It's missing the washer so I can't fit it properly but the bolt is fairly long.
