Trying to find 12 volts on reversing lamps

Post by sstman »

I’ve been fitting a reverse camera to my 2007 Cayman, found a combined camera and number plate light unit, so no drilling required on bumper! Just trying to find a 12 volt live via the near side light cluster, but to no availe.? Using a multi meter I’ve not found any voltage, even using the wiring diagram for the light units. What am I missing ? So far I’ve only managed to pop the fuse that protects the near side rear light cluster.

you will seriously upset the CANBUS system by attaching to the light cluster, you would be better by finding a switched live and then the switch line to the Reverse light switch
