Well I managed to adust the cable and the throttle is now much smoother although still has a tendancy to stick in 'foot down' mode, but nowhere near as bad as before. Also checked the AFM using this guide
http://www.frwilk.com/944dme/afm.htm (linked from Clarks Garage) and found that the Wiper track was virtually completely worn away around the area at which the car is idling. I did the 'bendy arm thing' and car now idles much smoother although a little 'hunting' still occures when the engine is cold. The clutch pedal is still jerky at the top of its travel but Im getting used to it.
I need to get the belts changed and have it serviced (more for my own piece of mind than any real need) just as soon as I can locate someone nearby, and if that doesnt throw up any major issues I will look at changing the brake pads and replacing the tyres with the original sized 195/65/15 's.
Overall Im having great fun !
