Well its up and running again, taxed and insured and has done 50 uneventful miles so far, seems to be OK now - bit early to say so when i'm feeling brave i'll try the 15 miles or so to Kenilworth!!
Slightly tappety when cold, but that goes almost immediately, otherwise trundles along nicely.
Well, guess what?
Ran car for a couple of weeks without incident, but found a buyer.....fairly local.
Two days later I get a call saying car stopped and there's a large hole in the cam cover.....
So, do I just say 'sorry chap, sold as seen'? Or is that unreasonable?
I've no idea why the top end would suddenly go bang again.
Should I offer a part refund - admitting no liability, say 200 (10%), or just take car back, refund him and start again!!!
I didn't think this car had any more to hit me with?

Is this the same "I just bought a 944 and it now has a hole in the cam cover" as mentioned in the What did you do to your 924/944/968 today thread? Hard to think there are two 944's with this problem as the same point in time.
Difficult as technically private sale\sold as seen with no warranty implied but clearly depends on your own opinion.

I think it is the same, - lets see if we can resolve amicably - although garage have said they wont do anything as they don't feel liable due to the miles its done since.

As for hole in cam cover, generally can only be caused by foreign body I.e. A dropped bolt during removal /assembly. And they can lay in there for some time before getting caught on the cam and causing damage.
