Quick update:

Had a call this morning from the Area rep. that I met saturday, and he immediately assured me that they are "happy to accept liability".

The only fly in the ointment is that he cannot authorise a complete replacement without it being a claim on their insurance, so I will get back on to the bodyshop and have a chat about the possibility of it not being repairable. They were confident that it could but understandably the fitting company don't want to pay twice i.e. once for an attempted repair and then again for a complete replacement.

I am relieved to say the least!

Adam

Very good Adam, are they going to put it in writing?

Well I've asked for an email and he said fine, so I should be ok.

SKLR was good didn't you think? Shame they have to pack up.

I would say that it was jacked up on the jig location plug but one of the tabs on the trolley jack plate dug into the sill as it was jacked up.

I have to say that I personally wouldnt take my eyes off car I own and value when in a tyre depot. I generally never take mine to a tyre depot at a weekend so I miss the `Saturday` part time kids.

The last time but one they tried to jack it up at the front like yours but I insisted that they did as I asked and put it on a four poster where it could be jacked up properly. You also get a chance to check the underside when its up there too.

Quick update:

I dropped the car off at my local porsche-approved bodyshop this morning. The tyre fitters will naturally be picking up the tab.

I should have it back mid-week.
In the meantime I am driving around in a fiesta.. the shame

Should have asked for a courtesy car of an equivalent nature to the vehicle being repaired. Might have ended up with a Boxster or similar.

Friend of mine had his Jag scratched when the gates at David Coulthards apartment closed along the car. When his was being repaired, he got a TVR

Thanks Paul :)

Richard, the bodyshop only had fiestas in their pool as far as I could tell.

You should've seen the metal in there:

1 x 911 GT3 (new)
1 x 911 turbo (new)
1 raceprepped 911 (carerra cup car)
2 x 993

etc etc

I was distracted! :drunken:

you should have insisted on a gt3

i think you have to have that detailed in your cover. A friend of mine had his 1.8 TT in for repair. whilst it was in he had a 3.2 quattro.

he didn't want to give it back!

Be interested to see their work especially on older cars, isn't their work warranted by Porsche for a longish time?

I'll bring it along to the next meet hopefully, or may even post up some pics here.

Not sure about warranties but I will obviously be asking about it when I collect.

My 968 has a front wing and bumper fitted by a Porsche approved bodyshop. it has a lifetime warranty so long as it is inspected every year!

Well technically they asked me to go after the tyre fitter (which I did). The law actually states that the the contractor (black circles) would be my only point of contact but back in the real world I've hopefully sorted it.

I expect a 'phone call today probably letting me know it is ready for collection :bounce:
