these seem expensive! can anyone recommend best cheapest supplier?

I have just fitted fitted only 944's short shift kit but noticed the clutch is nearly dead

I agree that they aren't cheap but which other cars can run for over 100k on one clutch? some have managed twice that....also considering how big a job this is I'd rather have the best that money can buy then have to change the clutch every few years...horses for courses I guess...might be worth shopping around to see who has the best price on a Sachs unit, you can find good deals sometimes...Euro parts had a good price last year but today I see they are back up to close RRP

Sachs one or don't bother. It's around £500 for the kit but worth every penny. Make sure you get the garage to do the rear oil seal at the same time and any little bits you can't get to without removing the clutch while it's out.

I was interested if anyone had bought recently as the price seems to vary with the cheapest so far $490 but by time time added VAT etc still around £500!

I would have thought £800 including labour to be very cheap..even on an N/A car this job isn't quick, say 10 hours at a low £60 an hour (if you can find it that cheap) the cost of labour alone soon adds up?

Cost me £1100 with all the extra bits and pieces done but I also have master and slave cylinders fitted at the same time.

I would first check to see if your clutch is really nearly dead - ie was the unit working correctly before you put in the new short shift? If not fitted correctly, the linkages may be unadjusted. Also check the clutch wear gap via the inspection portal on the bell housing.
