My rear koni shocks have just arrived, can anyone give some guidance on what a good starting point the adjustemebt should be. Mainly for road driving with the odd track day thrown in. They have internal adjustment so I would like one setting that best suits both? On a 944 s2

Can't speak for the Koni's, but I have my Gaz set up bang in the middle for fast road. I can go from super hard to super soft, not sure the Koni's have the same scope but set them bang centre and have a test drive and play to suit.

Note the number of clicks from hard to soft and use for reference.

I have adjustable Koni's front and back, the fronts are set on soft, the rears are hard. This suits me, fronts giving me better feel on turn in and the rears to reduce the squat on fast standing starts. I did this after a photo was taken of me launching at Santa Pod, comments made at the time saying the car looked like the space shuttle on launch....:)

I have the Koni Sports on my 944S2 - both front and rear are set at 'medium', with no complaints and the road handling is a big improvement on the stock. I also fitted H&R (Koni) lowered springs at the same time, which makes another benefit improvement.

I would advise getting the front geo checked when you get it all fitted up, so that what you have spent runs correctly.

Alas, I don't, or should I say, 'I can not find any' I do recall posting pictures of the conversion on the PCGB forum but it was a long time ago and I can't find them now, nor do I have copies on my PC. There is a picture showing how the car sits in the 'what have you done today' thread, it's at the top of page 139, the car also has lowered springs on the front.

I set tje Konis full soft on the rear and 3/4 on the front for normal use. !/2 way on the rear and full hard on the front for the track. Running 968 torsion bars and 250lbs coil over fronts with M030 arbs.
I found the rear would hop and ratlle my fillings if full hard on the rear.

Which set of Konis should I look for & where? I only want to use them for road use with OE springs.

I think this is dependent on model year, a quick search on Koni's site should help, I'm afraid that I can't remember the specific part number that I have fitted, IIRC there was only one option available.

cheers

That's what I thought, just the one option. Mine's a 1989 S2 which I think would be the same for the S2 89-91!?

I got mine from Larkspeed cheapest at that time. The paint finish is poor and the rears will suffer from chipping I had the front struts powder coated. Paragon coil over kit and M030 brakes. Top mounts are Racers Edge monoballs but increase nvh substantially
