The car I've got in mind is a 1982 2.0 n/a and has been laid up some time but is reckoned to be solid, I wasn't actually looking for one but I saw it and I've decided to have a punt. It's cheap enough that I can get my money back if it does turn out to be a duffer but by all accounts it could well be a bargain. The hope is I will eventually be able to use it as a daily (when I've not got the kids) so it doesn't have to be mint just presentable so for now it would be a case of making the best of what's there and getting it safe legal & reliable. I can worry about achieving perfect paint etc later. Basically if it's not rotten I should be able to fix it! Anyway if the deal goes through he's going to drop it off for me Friday so I'll be able to tell you more then. Btw am I right in thinking those engines don't have oil scraper rings so they should puff a bit of blue smoke on startup? The first little project will be to change the fluids and get it running so I need to know what to expect out of the tailpipe.
