Well collected mine from Exeter OPC, and reluctantly returned the Loaner Panamera GTS... :o
Good news was its was not a leaking head gasket, but a leaking water pump, and a micro leak in the radiator... all belts and rollers/tensioners replaced as contamination from coolant. So fingers crossed that's my major expenditure for this year hopefully, and belts changed a couple of years early....

As well as the sunroof, I fitted my remake of the microswitch lever for the tip box and it works perfectly :D

We've had a great day in Peterborough today, I have looked at the forecast and it's supposed to be wetter than an otters pocket for the whole of tomorrow. Pretty typical when you want good weather really.

are you sure? BBC weather says Peterborough is dry tomorrow with a touch of rain at Rutland at 9 am.....it's supposed to be very wet here in Harrow tomorrow morning , I'm hoping it's dry in Peterborough so that I can give the old girl a quick wipe over before driving to Rutland....that's if the wife let's me you understand...:)

Car's looking good Pete! Wish I could make Rutland tomorrow, looking forward to the pics and reports at least :D

I finished the day on the 924 Rothmans fixing the horn, well at least enough so it works for the MoT next week.... There was a perm live at terminal 13 behind the the relay. Relay clicked when the horn was pressed and a replacement known good relay proved it had to be something between terminal 14 and the horns themselves.... Seems to have been the connection behind the fuse board to terminal 14 on the relay

Closer inspection of the unit itself sees that it's seriously past its best - not surprising really given its position under the front if the NS front wing

I truly hope you're right and the BBC aren't having a Michael Fish moment.

Car ran well at Oulton until a hammering under braking and a squeal from n/s rear. Thought i'd better go home and investigate. Handbrake shoe retaining spings had fallen out and were a bit chewed up. New springs ordered and a Mercedes fitting tool ordered. Bit more fell off silencer heat shield and clutch stinks. Sticking release fork? Ah well the 993 will have to do the daily for a while.

Car wouldn't start 40 miles from home in the dark.

Suspected fuel as it almost fired at first and then not a peep.

Remembered spare DME relay bought 2 yrs ago in the glove box - popped it in and fired first time.

RESULT!

Must buy another spare now.

I picked up some new parts for my 944 from OPC Exeter and took a moment to drool over this beast
Image

Then I got my resealed and repainted fuel tank shoved back into the car
Image

Then I attempted to get the gearbox refitted to the car. I say attempted, basically I spent a day of lifting up the gearbox in various ways only to come to the conclusion that two arms are not enough to get the job done. Next time I attempt this I will come with extra arms!

I did however get the new shift mechanism, output shaft seals and new mounts fitted to the gearbox
Image

Next step is get the gearbox in properly, replace the CV joints, get a new rebuilt steering shaft from our fine friend Jon, then replace the valve stem seals before upgrading the suspension.

Drove down to Havant yesterday and back today ;) 310 mile round trip and no problems.

Although my temp gauge reads about a 1/4 up. Sat in traffic and started to rise to just under 3/4 then I think the fan kicked in and settled back down. My thoughts are there is no thermostat, does any one agree with this assumption?

I lifted mine up on a decking board with two trolley jacks at either side and a bottle jack under torque tube to allow me to drop the rear of the torque tube down a touch - it's a fight but it spreads the load and keeps it more balanced! Good luck :)

My 968 is now booked in for paint in April :D

I just need to start the process of taking things off like bumpers, side skirts, lights mirrors, door handles etc.... Glass is all coming out as well but the bodyshop are getting their chap to do that for me. Just wondering if there is anything else I should remove from the car to make sure all is spot on?
