Sad to hear Adam, especially as your car was in such nice nick. I'm absolutely paranoid about how my cars are jacked & I always watch & supervise, some get the ar5e with me but tough luck! If they get too upset I go elsewhere & have. Go after them ASAP & let us know the outcome, mention that you're a club member & the way your treated will be in the public domain.

Thanks for all the kind words so far; I appreciate the support. I will get onto trading standards as advised.
Am I allowed to name names though, or should I hang fire and wait for the outcome?

If I get time today I may well visit OPC Tonbridge to get a professional opinion on the wing.

Adam

looks like it slipped off the ramp and they said nothing, possibly it slipped off the jack? either way its their fault and they need to rectify it.

Thanks.
I actually took it down to my friendly neighbouthood OPC today and they kindly put it on a ramp. Their theory is that they may not have spun the rubber plug up enough and consequently had the sill resting on the arm of the ramp lifter.

Also took it straight from there to the approved bodyshop and it looks like the wing may be salvagable but could end up with some filler in it here n there :(

I would be so gutted ! its obvious that you wouldnt jack your own car on the sills and they can be the only ones responsible.
Maybe worth trying to reach a compromise to payment by telling them that trading standards are intrested to take the matter up.

Really sorry to see a car damaged like this :( through utter stupidity.

There's a lesson to be learned here (albeit at someone's misfortune)

Always use a reputable tyre fitter and NEVER leave your vehicle whilst the work is being done

Earlier in the year I had to have my alloy wheel nuts drilled off at Porscheshop after an earlier visit to a tyre fitting bay that used air tools to tighten them. I couldn't budge them with a 3 foot bar on the torque wrench so gods knows what the torque setting was?

Don't trust 'em

Thanks. I met with the rep from the fitting company this morning and he had been told the damage was at the top of the wing and was most likely due to a 'parking incident'. The lying sods. They are now making up stories to cover themselves as I went straght back to them to show them what they had done the minute I discovered it!

Quick update:

Had a call this morning from the Area rep. that I met saturday, and he immediately assured me that they are "happy to accept liability".

The only fly in the ointment is that he cannot authorise a complete replacement without it being a claim on their insurance, so I will get back on to the bodyshop and have a chat about the possibility of it not being repairable. They were confident that it could but understandably the fitting company don't want to pay twice i.e. once for an attempted repair and then again for a complete replacement.

I am relieved to say the least!

Adam

Well I've asked for an email and he said fine, so I should be ok.

SKLR was good didn't you think? Shame they have to pack up.
