Back in 1986 when I could be found sporting a very fashionable wedge and bemoaning the end of the new romantic era , my 944 turbo was created . Forward to 2016 and any hair for a hair style is a bonus , I still have my poor taste in fashion and I can walk into a Porsche dealership and order a new key for my car for the next day with just the VIN number !
I was amazed that after 30 years Porsche still kept a record for key cutting and within a day I had a new key. I have only ever had the one key for the turbo and after 185,000 miles there was a lot of wear on the key which made having copies made impossible , also I was concerned about breaking the key in the lock but not any more. One of the best buys I have made .
I won't frighten you with photos of the haircut but have a look at the wear on the key, I could probably have used a spoon handle to open the car.

A few words of advice. Those badges do not stay in the key very long. I have had 2 and both fallen out within a few weeks. The 2nd one I was lucky enough for it to fall out where I could see it so I scratched the surface under it and super glued it. It's still there now so must have worked well.

I think you'll find the locks are worn too, especially the drivers...I would bet that most can be opened with a flat screwdriver....don't tell anyone, though....:)

Going to B and Q for a Stanley screwdriver wouldn't have felt as good Pete . I thought the same that the barrel would be worn out but I was surprised the difference in slack with key in the locks between old and new .
