All.

I am trying to continue my project with my 944. It is still for sale, but in hte short term, i need to use the car and keep her running.
I have removed the rear wiper arm and am in the process of ditching the wiper motor. I want to blank off the hole in the glass and notice that several companies are selling blanking covers for about £20.
What this looks like is a rounded off bolt, a rubber gasket or washer and a nut. Has anyone done this from their own parts bin? If so - was it sucessfull?

Cheers
Rav

One of these works perfectly, although I've put a small smear of silicone underneath it and it hasn't leaked in 5+ years:

You'll want to paint it black for obvious reasons!

Promax one was the one I used. Much better made than the hash I attempted. Granted not as cheap though

Yes, and it's the Chrome version I have. However it really does look like a bog fitting in chrome, so I painted it .... :D

Nowt wrong with being careful with money. It amazes me how some people get through it, and then claim poverty.

Is it only me who finds the rear wiper an essential thing to have on any car?

The spare hatch I bought from Terry came without a wiper, but he found that a BMX handlebar end cap fitted the hole perfectly!

Coming from driving a van for 15 years, I'm used to not seeing behind me, but the wiper is handy occasionally in the 944.

Not a dig at Phil, but that page sounds like a vast over-advert for a very simple thing.

"This product is ....

... readily available here
... Machined for a precise fit and finish
... Made of composite non metalic components (no chance of corrosion)
... A fraction of the weight of the 968CS part
... Lighter weight than other solutions available anywhere
... A fraction of the price of the original 968CS part
... Uses a double seal to ensure a waterproof and airtight solution
... Produced in black to work well with all body colours
... Designed to maintain the factory look
... Fits 924, 944, 968 and some 911 models (Call for details)
... Easy assembly - the two halves screw together, no tools required (other than to remove the original rear wiper assembly)"

It's a (very over-priced) bit of plastic that fits in a hole to keep the rain out. Such verbage is as amusing as the over-inflated price!

Agreed. It is also original equipment on the later models, which may be important for a future buyer, so keep the appropriate motor etc. I never use mine much but looks great just sitting there, knowing that it can...

For £2 these take some beating, integral rubber seal so no messing with silicone.

My motor was seized, its an occasional use car so I popped one in, looks quite neat.
