Been looking at getting a nicer sounding exhaust for a while for my 2.5 na and am constantly looking at the Dansk mid and rear sections on Euro Car Parts.

My question is, are the Dansk items that ECP supplies the sport ones, or just standard replacements? The reason it confuses me is that when looking up an S2 on ECP, the Dansk exhausts are clearly labelled 'sport' whereas the NA just simply states 'dansk stainless exhaust'.

Can anyone shed some light? If they are the sport boxes I'm just going to go for them with 25% off! But won't bother if they are standard replacement jobbies. Anybody bought them before?

I believe there is only one option for 2.5 and it sounds nice.

And that's only if you're lucky, if not then it gets much worse.

So the ECP exhaust is very poor quality?

Yeah that's what I thought after looking at the Dansk pdf!

I believe I read someone say it was a good idea to bung a Stainless bolt through it to make sure it doesn't come off. Doesn't bother me in the slightest :)

Yep, Dansk will fall apart. If not sooner, then definitely later

I suppose a Dansk exhaust is lesser quality than many other options which cost twice as much (at least). But then it's good to have the choice.

I recently fitted a ECP Dansk exhaust (back part only) and I'm very happy with it for the £120 I paid for it. Sounds fun and the car is an occasional drive so it's going to see less wear and tear.

For the definitive position mine came with an official Dansk parts brochure. There is only one exhaust for the 2.5 NA.

2.5l S uses a different exhaust shared with the early 2.7l cars. Later 2.7ls use the S2 exhaust.

I had a Dansk on my 2.5, gave a few more horses, sounded lovely but didn't drone or give me a headache. It was starting to corrode on some of the seams & wouldn't have lasted forever but for the £150 or so I paid for it I was happy. It was still OK when the car went 4 years after I fitted it. On balance I'd recommend it.

Actually having looked again at the Dansk brochure it does have two options for 2.5L NA Cars and two options for 2.7L NA cars.

looks like it depends on the engine code.

Both listed as sport exhausts.

2.5L NA
M44.01-08+ M44.10 = 92.440S OE 94411108301 years 82-91
M44.09 + M44.40 = 92.442S OE 944.111.041.03 years 87-88

2.7L NA
M44.12 = 92.440S OE 94411108301 years 89-91
M44.11 = 92.442S OE 944.111.041.03 years 89-91

The 92.442S version is the same model as the S2.

The turbo has a completely different exhaust.

They don't appear to make a middle box for an S2 or Turbo. The middle box they make fits all 2.5L and 2.7L cars years 85-89. So not square dash cars then.

I hope this is understandable.

You can email them on sales@jpgroup.dk

In summary then, you agree with me?

Cheers for the comments. Ended up going for both middle and rear box. Because it's the bank holiday weekend I got both for £211 or something.

Like I say I didn't want to buy it to find out it sounds exactly the same as before. But if what everyone here is saying is correct then it should sound quite fruity, which is excellent :)

Not exactly 944 man. There are two types for the 2.5L not just one shared with the 2.7L. It depends what engine you have. Mine is the one not shared with the the 2.7L and that one would not be correct on my car.

I like mine. I know it may not last like an OE one but it sounds more fun and it's what I could afford right now.

Some say they are too noisy, some say they are too quiet. Its a bit opinion based in what you are looking for.

I defended the negative reviews of Dansk as mine was lasting 2 years with sub 5k miles pa. But it finally let go on the tail pipe section by cracking the silencer end panel. There was no bracing on the tail pipe which may have helped it to last longer. The silencer was being used to support the rear section and not the tailpipe bracket. If the rearmost tail pipe bracket was being used I think it would have failed sooner.
