Anyone know of a supplier of good 6mm inexpensive weld cutting drills? The Screwfix ones are pretty expensive and a review says they go blunt after about thirty welds - so I am not tempted.

Also mentioned on the web are 'zipcutters' which seem to go in and out of supply - anyone any experience of them? Are they better than a good colbalt drill and who stocks them at the moment?

Cheers

Rob

One of the guys on here called Michael Tennyson should be able to help. He's doing a gargantuan s2 rebuild and he's a professional body work man...

I found another way - cut out the bulk of the metal with a cutting disc, then remove the welded on strip that's left with a zirconium flap wheel (machinemart 4 for £8) - they eat metal really fast. Much much quicker and a prepared surface at the end.

I've used these sort of cutters before and they seem to work well.

I used a Dormer spot weld drill bit from the local motor factor. Lasted for 2 full sill replacements and beyond.

I was going to suggest German, but Dormer Tools used to make the best drills in the world. With some things, you have to pay the proper price for the right kit.

Get the 8mm one, the 6mm sometimes misses a bit.
