hello again,

trying to get a few little things done,

one of which is getting the tailgate to release.

at the moment the offside pin is not in line with the catch hole.even with the catch retracted by turning the key ect it won't release. i can release it by pushing the tailgate to the right a bit. So i'm thinking i need to relocate the pin closer to the offside (possibly by as much as 10mm).

is this possible or is it the tailgate itself thats out of line, can't see any obvious adjustment for this?

thanks,

rick.

Opposite problem to mine. Mine is open but doesn't shut but I think the mechanism has seized (like everything else)

Would be interested to know how to go about adjusting it.

I had a similar problem and adjusted the pins and locks.

The location of the pins can slightly be adjusted but the tailgate catch has more flexibility.
If you look at the lock under the boot carpet the bolts can be released and the catching mechanism moved.

Hope that helps

If the pins arn't bent then if it's 10mm out maybe the glue holding the glass to the frame has given. Mine went with a bang a few weeks ago. Got it off & am now refurbing it. Not for the faint hearted. Had to get the frame off with a big hammer & a wall paper scraper. (Helpful article on Clarkes garage.) Once cleaned up then I will reglue it with Tiger seal. If the glass has slipped it should show at the top near the hinges. There are some dimples in the glass that shouldn't be visible (Under the trim,) If you can see them then it's moved. Also it rattles somtimes. (Though that may just be the pins needing adjusting or a new boot seal or both.)
