It's been an extremely long and hard winter working on this car but I have finally got her back on her wheels and running! There were times I thought I'd not see this day as the list seemed to grow rather than shrink. So I drove her out of the garage and blasted away the months of dust and grime that had built up while I was working on her. Paintwork is going to need some attention but just happy to see her outside and running :D

However, I think I am way out with the rear indexing after doing a complete overhaul of the suspension. I'm just praying I have enough adjustment in the spring plates to level it up. On the plus side I am extremely happy with the way the wheel refurb came out, and the spacers I added.

This is as low as you can go. Your rear end (!) looks similar to mine.

Thats good to know. I figured that i probably wont have enough adjustment at the spring plates to level it with the stanadard front springs, and really dont fancy dropping it out again to reset the torsion bars. So,seems like the perfect excuse for a set of front lowering springs

Indeed! I opted for a GAZ Gold set up which works well with the rear re-indexed. Never bothered with rear helper springs, was about £600 for the springs and shocks and all fittings. Good luck!

After what I have spent this year I really cant justify that kind of setup (much as I'd love to have it), especially as the rear shocks are brand new and the fronts have done less than 7k. So I will be going for the cheaper option of Spax lowering springs on the front and keeping the standard shocks all round. Should bring the front down 30mm, then I can use the adjustment in the spring plates to level it all up, at least that's the plan. Then its off to get the geometry properly setup.

How does this ride height adjustment effect handling?
Our cars are applauded for handling....Does this do it a injustice?

All a matter of opinion Rav. My car handles well. Others prefer standard ride height. I also like the look and stance of my car. I can adjust my shocks to suit for road/track etc. and to suit my driving style.

Some say the wishbones get a hard time when down so low but I haven't had any such bother with the car having been lowered for a very long time and not had to replace wishbones/ball joints etc.
