Since I changed the relay a few years ago I've had a fully functioning sunroof and am eagerly awaiting the glass one.
Driving into work the other day I thought I'd pop the roof. Press the button and whirring started and didn't stop when it usually does. But the roof stayed shut.
Investigating at work the arms have retracted into the release position (with the engine running) and now its completely dead.
I've checked all the fuses and given the relay a bash and reseated it and no result.
I've managed to crank the arms up manually so now at least the rear of the roof is secured but what next.
I assume it will be one of the limit switches which is a shame as electro diagnostics aren't a strength.
I'll trawl through the clarks garage check list unless anyone has any bright ideas?

the clarkes garage article on sunroofs will cover it all.
Sounds like the stops for the micro switch in the boot

I'm reading the clarkes page at the moment. There is a table that shows various resistances.
It will be hard to see if the switches are open or closed as that will be on the inside of the unit, between the board and the body.
I assume the resistances are tested with the ignition on?

If I had to guess it's loose a micro switch on the motor plate

The ones your interested in are visible on the plate the one at the back is for the full opened position

Hi DavidL, I hope you sort out your sunroof problem and also hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread to ask a question of me own.

The sunroof on my car seems to function fine apart from one thing, it does not raise up very much in the tilted of our open position. So it opens but the gap is quite small. I've looked through the Clarkes article but can't see an obvious answer.

Anyone seen this before and know how to sort it?

It may depend on what you are expecting. They only open about 3" or so, its not a huge gap.

I don't have the car at the moment so I can't measure the gap. I'm pretty sure it's not 3" more like 1". It was something that was pointed out by the previous owner when I got the car,his opinion was that it should go up more and that he had seen other cars that opened further.

It doesn't sound like it is trying to open any further though, it just stops as though it thinks the roof is fully open.
