Same as you and Bruno I have the exact same rust problem

Have been reading with interest and will be doing the same until the sills are replaced

Nice, neat job!

Started reassembling the suspension over the weekend, feel like I participated in the Six Nations this morning! That's some heavy hard work. Managed to refit the torsion tube etc to the car on my own (with the help of a jack) but would seriously recommend getting someone to help you if your going to attempt this as much wiggling and giggling is required and these parts aren't light. Got one of the trialing arms back on as well, this was a real fiddle as well with the powerflex bushes. Going to attempt to make up some replacement final section brake lines today / tomorrow, should be interesting. Then I will be refurbing the calipers and the rear end will be done (bar setup).

Anyone have any tips of how I can get the various suspension adjustments into a relatively safe position so that i can drive it to somewhere to get it set up properly?

Managed to get this job done this afternoon, made up some replacement final section brake pipes. Thanks to one of our members who leant me the required tools to get this done. Was a tricky bit of bending, especially for my first attempt at it. Did a test fit and all seems good.

You'll probably need Porsche special tool number P221 which isn't expensive, and one of the online guides. I think I'd pass on anywhere that hasn't got the tool as they probably don't understand how the rear geo is adjusted.

Hi Pauly,
the P221 tool you refer to, is it this? It came with my Spring Plate Kit from WPO.

That's it. Chris at Center Gravity used one when he set my geo up. You may be able to use string lines and a spirit level to get the camber and toe somewhere near.

That all looks just stunning!! Very jealous indeed - makes me want to start on mine... but then what do I drive over the summer....

Do you have a rough breakdown of parts costs and sources at all?

Can you be more specific about the parts yo are interested in replacing. I have basically replaced all mounts and bushes and rear shocks, and some harware.

I dont have the exact prices to hand but can give close approximates. All the bushes I have used are Powerflex, and all the mounts are standard Porsche

Bushes (Powerflex)
1. Spring plate bracket to body £40
2. Trialing arm inner to torsion tube £40
3. ARB bushes £40

Mounts, there are 4 mounts one each side for vertical movement and one each side for horizontal movement. For the later there are stiffer version for the 951 I bought these at £55 each (about £11 per side more than the standard ones). The ones for vertical movements had a very large price difference for the left and right one was £64 the other £140. Apparently the later is newly made stock and the former old stock.

Springplates, three options
New from porsche £285 each
Remanufactured from WPO germany (ebay) £200 for a pair
Refurb yourself and just replace the bushes (pig of a job) various suppliers for the bushes WPO or Powerflex or States £60

ARB droplinks
Porsche standard £125 each
After market adjustables £85 - £125 for pair

Standard non adjustable Sachs rear shocks £60 - £85 each depending where you buy (tip search on part number as they are often listed as 924 shocks but are the same for 944)

So, basically to do a complete refresh it aint cheap. But, if you want it to drive like a porsche and go round corners quick its worth it.

Thanks for the detail on this, very helpful indeed and the thread has been an inspiration :)

IIRC Powerflex do have a full rear kit for around £280 which I'll probably just get Stu to order as he'll know the exact ones needed and there are some decent aftermarket drop links that I've saved in my watchlist on fleabay. I'm happy to refurb my spring plates and I have new Bilsteins on the car (£90 a pair courtesy of Amazon last year).

I probably just need to bite the bullet, take the car off the road and get it done :)

Thanks again for the thread and the info.

Managed to get one hugely fiddly and frustrating job done today, fitted the new handbrake shoes and lever with new warning switch. Also, in the past couple of days got the second trialing arm and new shocks on. Getting there.....just have to rebuild the drive shafts and install, refurb the calipers, put exhaust back on.

Rebuilt the drive shafts yesterday and today and reinstalled. Really unpleasant job, grease everywhere! Having learnt the hard way with the first one I addpted the process for the second, which went a bit smoother. The main thing I learnt was to reassemble as many of the components as you can prior to greasing the CV joint, will save you a lot of grief. As usual a few pics.
