Hi all,

What's the latest thinking on the best source for a replacement - one of the terminals snapped on mine when I was reconnecting after fighting with the heat shield.

A quick look on eBay suggests anything from £16 to £60 for a new one.

Are the cheap ones with getting or should I go to my OPC?

The price at OPC will make you wince,

About £30 is the average price for a replacement

OK,

That's not too bad.

Can someone recommend a source for a reliable replacement?

Maybe the most important sensor on the car, I purchased from OPC for about £50
I always worry that aftermarket may not be calibrated exactly the same as the original :?

My oil pressure warning light came on the other day for a few minutes and the meter that reads upto 5 usually shows 5 with the odd occasional time that it works. Is this the part that I'd need to buy to solve this issue?

Anyone know what size spanner this needs - I read a 24mm ideally "thin".

Does a standard open ender fit or is it too "thick" to fit between the engine and sender body.?

I got a replacement sensor to swap out mine as it makes the dial bounce hard up and down when the temp gets a little warm... silly question, but do I get a spurt of oil streaming out when I remove the sensor?

You need a 24mm that has been chopped as access is very tight.

OK, managed to change the sender over the weekend.

I ordered one from Euro Car Parts - was £28 but on "sale" at £19 when I ordered.

For future reference, a standard 24mm spanner fitted other than there being very limited space between the PAS pump and the pas pipe to turn the spanner. I unbolted the PAS pump and whilst I couldn't get it off, I managed to move it enough to do the job with a standard spanner - in very small increments.

New sender came with 2 spade terminals attached - my car has a spade and a ring so I removed one (compared the shape of the sender unit to the old to figure out which one). Then realised that the spades were different sizes. I had to swap the spades over as the one left on the sender was slimmer than the connector. That done it all went together OK - just the usual grazed knuckles.
By the way, only a dribble of oil - I just stuffed a rag in the hole whilst I was messing with the terminals.
